the new art of movement for our time:

Eurythmy

Eurythmy in the world:

  • as an art of movement for the complete human being - body, mind, soul, spirit - born out of anthroposophy in Switzerland 1912;

  • as a unique performance art: visible speech accompanied by poems and stories, and visible singing with instrumental music;

  • as an important pedagogical tool, eurythmy classes support healthy childhood development with exercises prepared according to the age and developmental needs from kindergarten to high school;

  • as movement therapy, an integral part of Anthroposophic Medicine, activates the body's innate healing powers to overcome illness, with far-reaching health benefits for all ages;

  • as social art and self-development tool, group and individual eurythmy sessions help to restore the rhythm and harmony in our life, while cultivating a richer inner life with centering and calm relationships with the outer world.

Eurythmy Therapy uses the movements of the sounds of speech and tone, which correlate with the organs and organ processes in our bodies. This can help restore health and bring new balance to these specific areas. Through practicing specific movements, the healing qualities of the sounds and tones work back on the body to restore health.

Eurythmy Therapy works strongly in the soul and social realm, thus helping bring the inner and outer human being into balance. Through practicing these exercises, the part of us that holds the possibility for self-healing is activated and strengthened.

Some exercises involve movement gestures for letter sounds. For example, a movement gesture of “B” might be applied to help with addressing inner warmth, feeling a lack of protection, or disturbed kidney function; and a movement gesture of “M” might be used for better breathing and countering fear and anxiety.

Therapeutic eurythmy is currently practiced in hospitals, clinics, centers for special education, schools and private medical practices throughout the world, for conditions such as: ADHD, Allergies, Anxiety, Arthritis, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Back and Postural Problems, Cancer, Cardiac Support, Convalescence, Dental Irregularities, Depression, Developmental Disabilities, Diabetes, Digestive Disorders, Emotional Issues, Learning Difficulties, Stress and Fatigue, Trauma Recovery, Women’s Health Issues (Association for Therapeutic Eurythmy in North America)
